The Lodge offers a variety of accommodation options to suit your needs, from self-contained waterfront studios to private cottages set amongst tranquil native bush.
Full catering is available for up to 50 people. Delegates can enjoy a wine in the bar as well as our locally inspired restaurant menu! Hamper lunches are also available for those out and about exploring the island.

Fishing and Diving Charters
Everybody knows that there’s no fishing like Barrier fishing and whether you’re after that
20lb snapper or you just want to catch a good feed you’re in capable hands with our local fishing expert Chris Ollivier.
9 holes situated just up the road from Great Barrier Lodge. Enjoy the stunning views of Te Ahumata and Mount Hobson. A relatively short golf course but not without its challenges.
Scenic boat cruises
Cruise past secluded bays, many inaccessible by road through to the scenic Broken Islands. Anchor for lunch in sheltered Fitzroy Harbour.
Guided Bush Walks & Natural Hot Springs
Follow the historic tramline track and walk up to the Kaitoke Hot Springs, soak in the natural springs and then take the trail out through a stunning Nikau Palm grove.
Glenfern Bird Sanctuary/Fitzroy House
A predator controlled sanctuary where endangered species are able to thrive once more.
Cycle along quiet coastal roads or one of the Barrier’s world class trails. Guided tours are also available for those who want a knowledgeable accompaniment.
Standup Paddle boarding (SUP)
Hit the sheltered waters of Whangaparapara harbour on a stand up paddleboard. A great activity to strengthen your core and hone your balance.
Hit the bush for a hunting adventure (there’s plenty of rabbits, ducks and wild pigs on the island), checking in with Fish and Game to make sure you know what’s in season!
Take part in an eclectic, silversmith jewellery class at the Lodge taught by local artist, Charmaine Dobbs.
Go Great Barrier Tours
Visit the “Windy Canyon” or tour around the east coast surf beaches. Check out the ancient Pohutukawa trees and the “forgotten wharf”, old stone bridges and deep gullied streams at Blind Bay.
