FISHING AND DIVING CHARTERS
Everybody knows that there’s no fishing like Barrier fishing and whether you’re after that 20lb snapper or you just want to catch a good feed you’re in capable hands with our local fishing expert Chris Ollivier.
DARK SKY SANCTUARY
Good Heavens is a group of trained Dark Sky Ambassadors, here to guide you through the stars and planets on Great Barrier Island, New Zealand. Great Barrier Island is one of three Dark Sky Sanctuaries, and the only Island Sanctuary, in the world. Away from the lights of the big city and as an off-the-grid island, our light pollution is minimal. Our dark skies are superb. Our enthusiastic ambassadors will guide you through the starry southern night skies and beyond, sharing their knowledge on the basics of astronomy.
We have some great packages, but do not shy away from tailor making a package to fulfill your starry dream. Contact us for more info or to book. Come and watch our Dark Skies with us and marvel at their magic!
SCENIC BOAT CRUISES
Cruise past secluded bays, many inaccessible by road through to the scenic Broken Islands. Anchor for lunch in sheltered Fitzroy Harbour.
GUIDED BUSH WALKS & NATURAL HOT SPRINGS
Follow the historic tramline track and walk up to the Kaitoke Hot Springs, soak in the natural springs and then take the trail out through a stunning Nikau Palm grove.
GLENFERN BIRD SANCTUARY/FITZROY HOUSE
A predator controlled sanctuary where endangered species are able to thrive once more.
Cycle along quiet coastal roads or one of the Barrier’s world class trails. Guided tours are also available for those who want a knowledgeable accompaniment.
STANDUP PADDLE BOARDING (SUP)
Hit the sheltered waters of Whangaparapara harbour on a stand up paddleboard. A great activity to strengthen your core and hone your balance.
Hit the bush for a hunting adventure (there’s plenty of rabbits, ducks and wild pigs on the island), checking in with Fish and Game to make sure you know what’s in season!
GO GREAT BARRIER TOURS
Visit the “Windy Canyon” or tour around the east coast surf beaches. Check out the ancient Pohutukawa trees and the “forgotten wharf”, old stone bridges and deep gullied streams at Blind Bay.
